Estevalvojat ovat erittäin tärkeässä roolissa kisaajien kannalta; estevalvoja neuvoo kisaajia ylittämän esteen oikein ja tsemppaa kisaajia tekemään parhaansa jokaisella esteellä.

Mikäli kisaaja ei pysty tai halua suorittaa estettä, estevalvoja seuraa vierestä sakkoliikkeiden suorittamista. Muistetaan kuitenkin, että Tough Viking on ennen kaikkea kisa itseä vastaan, joten mikäli voimat hyytyvät ennen kaikkien sakkoliikkeiden loppuun suorittamista, voi kisaajan silti päästää jatkamaan matkaa. Hyvä fiilis on tärkeintä!

Kilpailijan halutessa keskeyttää kisa radan varrella, hänen tulee ilmoittaa siitä estevalvojalle ja antaa ajanottosirunsa pois. Heitä on ohjeistettu antamaan se lähimmällä esteellä olevalle valvojalle, joka palauttaa sen kisakylässä järjestäjille.

Tärkein estevalvojan tehtävä on varmistaa, että esteellä kaikki sujuu hyvin. Useat kilpailijat saattavat kysyä miten pitkä matka edessä vielä on, joten tiedä suurin piirtein missä kohtaa rataa esteesi sijaitsee.

Pyrimme sijoittamaan yhdelle esteelle aina vähintään kaksi estevalvojaa, joista toinen on ensiaputaitoinen. Jokaisella esteellä on ensiapupakkaus. Jompi kumpi valvojista on tiiminvetäjän roolissa, eli kantaa mukanaan radiopuhelinta. Tiiminvetäjän roolista voit lukea lisää aiemmasta blogipostauksesta.

Obstacle supervisors are in a very important role in the participants' point of view; obstacle supervisors advise the participants to perform the obstacles the right way and encourage them to do their best at every obstacle.

In case the participant cannot or do not want to perform the obstacle, the obstacle supervisor watches him/her to do the punishment exercises. However, let's keep in mind that Tough Viking is most likely a competition against self, so whether the participant gets too tired to finish the punishment exercises, let him/her to continue the race. Good atmosphere is the most important!

If the participant wants to discontinue the race, he/she has to inform the obstacle supervisor about it and give away the timing chip. The participants have been advised to give the timing chip to the obstacle supervisor that is located nearest, who will return it to the event organizers at the race village.

The most important task is to ensure that everything at the obstacle goes smoothly. Many participants may ask you how long way they still have ahead of them, so it's good to know at which point of the track your obstacle is located.

We aim to place at least two volunteers at each obstacle, of which one has first aid skills. There's a first aid kit at every obstacle. One of the obstacle supervisor is also the team leader and has the radio with him/her. Read more about the role of team leader in one of the earlier blog posts.
